Domestic Helper Resume Sample Philippines: 3 Templates to Copy
Three complete domestic helper resume samples: a yaya, an all-around kasambahay, and a first-time applicant, plus who legally pays for your NBI and barangay clearance.
Helpers Philippines
TL;DR: A domestic helper resume that works in the Philippines is one page, uses the exact role word the family used, and gives two references who have already agreed to be called. Three complete samples are below: a yaya with newborn and toddler experience, an all-around kasambahay, and a first application with only family and weekend work. No photo, no civil status, no religion, no ID numbers. And nobody may charge you a share of a placement fee, because Section 13 of RA 10361 forbids it.
Most helpers lose the job before anyone reads the second line.
Not because of experience. Because the top of the page says "hardworking, honest, God-fearing, willing to be trained" instead of "stay-in yaya, five years with children under three, Quezon City, can start 15 October". The first version could be anybody. The second version answers the only three questions the reader has.
And the reader is not HR. It is a parent on their phone at 11pm, going through fifteen applications while doing something else. They are not grading you. They are looking for one reason to press call.
The three things a family checks before they message you
In this order, and it is always this order.
Can you take this job at all. Where you live, whether you can get there, stay-in or stay-out, and the earliest date you can start. If they have to guess, they move on.
Have you done this exact job. Not household work in general. This job. A family hiring for a six-month-old wants to see a six-month-old on your page. A family hiring an all-around kasambahay for a two-storey house wants to see a house, not a studio condo.
Can anyone confirm it. Two names and two working numbers do more than every adjective you could write. A stranger is about to hand you keys, a child, or both.
Everything else is decoration. If you want to know exactly what the employer thinks the job involves, read the domestic helper job description guide and the nanny job description guide before you write a word. Their duty lists are your word list.
Sample 1: yaya for a newborn and a toddler
Five years, two households, infant care. This is the resume families fight over. Copy the shape, replace every detail with your own.

Look at what is missing. No photo. No civil status. No religion. No expected salary. No height and weight, which belong on a modelling application, not a childcare one. And no children's names, because those are not yours to publish.
Sample 2: all-around kasambahay
Cleaning, cooking, laundry, and errands in one job. The mistake here is writing "all-around" and stopping, which tells the family nothing about the size of house you can actually handle.

That certificate line is worth understanding before you copy it. The TESDA Domestic Work NC II training regulation promulgated in May 2022 lists exactly four core competencies: clean living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen; wash and iron clothes, linen and fabric; prepare hot and cold meals; and provide food and beverage service. It qualifies the holder to work as a domestic worker, houseboy, housemaid, housekeeper, hand-launderer, kitchen helper, or hotel cleaner.
Notice what is not on that list. Childcare. The certificate is real proof for the sample above and does almost nothing for the yaya sample, which is why that resume leads with first aid instead. The Domestic Work NC II guide covers what the qualification includes and how to enrol. Entry needs completed basic education or an Alternative Learning System certificate at grade 10 equivalent, so most applicants qualify.
Sample 3: your first application, with no paid job yet
Every experienced helper started here. The trick is refusing to write "no experience", because it is not true. You have been running a household. Give it a heading and dates like any other job.

Two things make this work. The unpaid heading is honest and specific, so nobody feels tricked at the interview. And the references are people outside the family, which matters, because a mother vouching for her daughter is the weakest reference on earth. If you truly have nobody, a barangay official or a former teacher will do.
How to write childcare experience a family will actually believe
This is where yaya applications live or die, and almost nobody does it properly.
Give ages, not the word children. "Cared for children" could mean a sleeping ten-year-old. "Newborn from six weeks, and a toddler aged two" is a completely different skill set and every parent knows it.
Write one real routine with times. A family reading "7am feed, 9am nap, 11am pickup, 1pm lunch" knows you have actually run a day. Vague warmth does not survive contact with a hungry infant at 5am.
Name one incident and what you did. A fever, a fall, a choking scare. Say what happened, what you did, and who you called. This is the most persuasive line most helpers never write, because they think problems look bad. The opposite is true. A yaya who has handled something and reported it immediately is worth more than one never tested.
Say what you did not do. "Gave no medicine without the mother's written instruction." "Never took the children out of the village without permission." Boundaries read as professionalism, not limitation. They tell a parent you understand where your authority stops.
Leave the children unnamed. No names, no photos, no school, no home address in your resume or your online profile. If a former employer wants their family identified, that is their choice to make in a reference call, not yours to publish.
Write the words families search for, not the words you would use
Job posts and searches use plain, specific Filipino household language. Applicants reach for formal English and lose the match entirely.
| What families type | What applicants write instead | Why the family's version wins | | ------------------------------- | ------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------- | | stay-in yaya for newborn | childcare experience | Names the arrangement and the child's age | | all-around kasambahay | household services provider | The actual job title in a Philippine home | | yaya for 2 kids, stay-out | flexible, willing to be trained | Says what the family gets, not what they must supply | | housemaid, can cook | food preparation duties | Two searchable words instead of a category | | helper who can iron barong | general house duties | Proves a specific skill families ask about by name | | stay-out helper, day off Sunday | open to any schedule | Sounds settled rather than desperate |
Use the family's own words back at them. If the post says katulong, write katulong. If it says yaya, write yaya. This is not keyword-stuffing, it is basic matching, and it is the cheapest improvement available to you.
Availability, live-in or stay-out, and the rest day line
Applicants go quiet on rest days because they are scared of sounding demanding. Then they burn out in four months and leave, which is worse for everybody.
State it plainly and early, on line three, as a fact. "Available: stay-in, one rest day a week, Sunday preferred." That is not a demand, it is the law describing itself. Under Section 21 of RA 10361, a kasambahay is entitled to at least 24 consecutive hours of rest each week, the employer and the worker agree the schedule in writing, and the employer must respect the worker's preferred day when the preference is religious. Section 20 gives an aggregate daily rest period of eight hours.
Choose stay-in or stay-out deliberately rather than saying yes to whatever the post asks. Stay-in usually means board and lodging and no fare, but the line between being at home and being on duty blurs fast. Stay-out costs fare and time and ends the day cleanly. Either way the hours belong in the written contract, which Section 11 requires before service starts and which must list duties, compensation, authorized deductions, hours of work, rest days, and board and lodging.
Keep salary off the page entirely. Work your number out privately using the rate-setting guide, and know your region's legal floor from the kasambahay minimum wage guide first. Indeed's Philippine nanny page reports a babysitter and nanny average of ₱15,893 a month from 127 self-reported salaries, updated 14 August 2026. That is a small, self-selected sample, not a promise. Treat it as a rough bearing.
References, lined up before you send anything
Two good references beat five names you have not spoken to.
- [ ] Ask each person first, by call, not by text. Some will say no, and it is better to learn that now.
- [ ] Tell them what job you are applying for, so they are not ambushed by a stranger's questions.
- [ ] Confirm the number they actually answer, and a window when calls are welcome.
- [ ] Write that window on the resume. It doubles the chance the call gets made.
- [ ] Keep any written reference letter, but treat it as a bonus. Families trust a live voice more.
- [ ] Have a third name ready in case one is abroad, unwell, or slow to reply.
If a past employer left the country, say so and give a Viber number. If you left a job badly, do not hide the dates. A four-month gap with a straight explanation is survivable. A gap you dodge in the interview is not.
Documents to prepare, and who pays for them
Section 12 of RA 10361 lets an employer require the documents below before the contract is signed. When the hire goes through a private employment agency, they become standard requirements. And the last sentence of that section is the one nobody quotes: the cost of the foregoing shall be borne by the prospective employer or agency.
- [ ] Medical certificate or health certificate from a local government health officer
- [ ] Barangay clearance
- [ ] Police clearance
- [ ] NBI clearance
- [ ] Duly authenticated birth certificate, or if you do not have one, another document showing your age such as a voter's identification card, baptismal record, or passport
- [ ] Not in Section 12, but bring them anyway: TESDA and first aid certificates
- [ ] Photocopies of everything, kept separately from the originals
That birth certificate substitute matters more than it sounds. Plenty of applicants stall for weeks waiting on a PSA copy when a voter's ID would have satisfied the same requirement. DOLE's Q and A booklet on the law is a free download in English and Tagalog from the NWPC's RA 10361 page, which also hosts the English Q and A booklet and a sample kasambahay contract. Download the contract before your interview and read it once. Walking in knowing what a proper contract contains changes how you are treated.
Placement fees, safety, and the meeting you should walk out of
Section 13 is short and absolute. Regardless of whether you were hired through a private employment agency or a third party, no share in the recruitment or finder's fee may be charged against you. Not a processing fee, not a training bond, not a deduction from your first month, not a "refundable" deposit. Section 14 separately makes it unlawful to require a deposit to cover damage to household items, and Section 15 bans debt bondage outright. If money is moving from you towards the person offering the job, the arrangement is illegal. Leave.
A few habits that cost nothing and prevent most of what goes wrong:
- Give photocopies, never originals. Your NBI clearance, birth certificate, and any ID stay with you. A "safekeeping" request for originals is a control tactic.
- Meet first in a public place, in daylight, and tell one person where you are going and when you will message them.
- Verify the family before you verify yourself. Ask for the household address, who lives there, and who else works there. A real employer answers all three easily.
- Never send money for a placement, a medical, a uniform, or a plane ticket to someone you met online.
- Treat a job post with no household details, no named contact, and an urgent deposit as a scam. It is.
- Keep your own copy of the signed contract. Section 11 entitles you to one.
One more, specific to childcare. A yaya should not be left as the sole adult with an infant on day one. Ask for a handover period, even two or three days, with the mother or another carer present. A family that refuses any overlap is either disorganised or hiding something about the household, and either way you are being set up to be blamed for the first thing that goes wrong. Reasonable parents expect this request. Many will be relieved you asked.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should a domestic helper resume in the Philippines include?
One page with your barangay and city, mobile number, the exact role word the family used, your availability, two or three jobs with what you actually did in each home, and two references who have already said yes. Leave off your photo, civil status, religion, height, weight, and any ID numbers. A family scrolling on a phone decides in about ten seconds, so the top four lines carry the whole resume.
How do I write a yaya resume with no formal work experience?
Write the household care you have really done, even unpaid, and give it a heading such as Household experience. Name the ages of the children you looked after, the routine you kept, and the years. Then add a paid line if you have ever been paid for laundry, cleaning, or babysitting nearby. A barangay official, a teacher, or a former weekend employer can be a reference when a past employer cannot.
Do I need TESDA Domestic Work NC II to apply as a yaya?
No. RA 10361 gives kasambahay access to TESDA training and certification, but no law makes it a condition of being hired. The TESDA Domestic Work NC II core competencies are cleaning, laundry and ironing, preparing hot and cold meals, and food and beverage service. None of them cover childcare, so it strengthens an all-around kasambahay application more than a yaya one.
Should I put my expected salary on my resume?
No. Putting a number on the page either prices you out before anyone has heard your experience, or anchors you below what the job is worth. Work out your own rate privately, then discuss it once the family has described the real hours and duties. Know your region's kasambahay wage floor before that conversation, because the legal minimum is not a target, it is the bottom.
Can an agency or a fixer charge me a placement fee?
No. Section 13 of RA 10361 says that no share in the recruitment or finder's fees may be charged against the domestic worker, whether the hire came through a private employment agency or a third party. Section 12 also puts the cost of the medical certificate, barangay and police clearance, NBI clearance, and birth certificate on the employer or the agency. Anyone asking you to pay to be hired is breaking the law.
Send it before it is perfect
The resume is not the product. The call is, and the call gets you the job.
Pick the sample closest to your situation, replace every line with your own true details, and send it today rather than polishing it for a week. If you are applying for a housekeeping or caregiving role instead, the housekeeper resume guide and the caregiver resume guide have samples written for those exact jobs.
Then put the same words into a profile, because most families here search profiles before they open attachments. Create your helper account and start applying from the open jobs list. If you are unsure your profile is ready, get hired shows what families see and in what order. The helpers hired fastest are rarely the most experienced. They are the ones whose first four lines answered the question.
