What is the minimum wage for a kasambahay in the Philippines?

The minimum wage for a kasambahay varies by region and, in some regions, by city or municipality class. The NWPC table dated 9 July 2026 lists ₱7,800/month for NCR from 7 February 2026; always check the current NWPC regional wage order before making an offer.

Does the employer pay SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG for a kasambahay?

After one month of service, a kasambahay must be covered by SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG. RA 10361 places the premiums or contributions on the employer, but allows a proportionate worker share when monthly wages are ₱5,000 or more. The calculator uses the current published agency schedules and shows the assumed split separately.

How is 13th month pay calculated for a kasambahay?

13th month pay is calculated as total basic salary earned during the calendar year divided by 12. It must be paid on or before December 24 each year. Kasambahay who worked at least one month during the calendar year are entitled to 13th month pay.

What is the total monthly cost of hiring a kasambahay?

Plan for basic salary, employer contributions to SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG, and a monthly amount for 13th-month pay. Use the calculator above for the contribution estimate; add the 13th-month accrual to your monthly budget.

Are there other mandatory benefits for kasambahay?

Yes. A kasambahay is also entitled to five days of paid service incentive leave after one year of service, at least 24 consecutive hours of rest each week, humane treatment, and basic necessities such as three adequate meals a day and safe sleeping arrangements for live-in work.

Understanding RA 10361 (Batas Kasambahay)

Republic Act 10361, also known as the Domestic Workers Act or Batas Kasambahay, requires employers to register their kasambahay with SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG and to pay the employer share of contributions. For kasambahay earning below P5,000 per month, the employer pays the full SSS contribution. Employers must also provide 13th month pay, at least 5 days of service incentive leave per year, and comply with regional minimum wage orders.

How to Register Your Kasambahay

SSS — Register at sss.gov.ph or any SSS branch. Employer and kasambahay each need an SSS number.
PhilHealth — Register at philhealth.gov.ph or any PhilHealth office. The premium is split equally between employer and employee.
Pag-IBIG — Register at pagibigfund.gov.ph or any Pag-IBIG branch. The mandatory fund salary is capped at ₱5,000; the current schedule uses a 1% worker share at or below ₱1,500 and 2% above that, with a 2% employer counterpart.

Sources and what this estimate excludes

The calculator covers basic salary, the published SSS household-employer schedule, the current PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG assumptions, and a monthly accrual for 13th-month pay. It does not calculate overtime, holiday premiums, meals, lodging, transport, loans, tax, partial-month payroll, or the separate rules that may apply to family drivers and certified caregivers.
