Privacy Policy
Welcome to helpers.ph (“we”, “our”, “us”). We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use helpers.ph, the Helpers mobile app, or any other services provided by us.
We do not sell your personal information. We do use marketing pixels to measure the performance of our own ad campaigns — see Sections 4 and 6 for details.
1. Information We Collect
a. Account and profile information
- Name, username, email address, and phone number
- Date of birth (required — we use it only to confirm you are 18 or over)
- Gender, city, and region
- Profile photo, gallery photos and videos, and work samples you upload
- Your written bio, skills, work history, and certifications
- Social media usernames you choose to add to your profile
b. Activity on the platform
- Job posts, job applications, and invitations
- Messages you send and receive through the platform
- Reviews and ratings you write or receive
- Saved jobs, saved profiles, and profile views
- Reports you submit and blocks you apply
c. Payment and payout information
- Payout destination details (for example, your GCash account) if you receive payments
- Subscription, billing, and transaction records
- Payroll records, payslips, and loan balances if your employer uses our household management tools
Card details are handled directly by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
d. Information collected automatically
- IP address, device type, browser, and operating system
- Pages visited and actions taken within the product
- Crash reports and error diagnostics
- Push notification tokens, so we can send you alerts you have opted into
- How you first found us (for example, a referral link)
e. Information from Facebook or Apple sign-in
If you sign in with Facebook or with Apple, we receive only what is needed to create and identify your account — typically your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not request or receive your friends list, your likes, or your activity on those platforms.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate the platform and match helpers with families
- To display your profile to families searching for help
- To enable messaging, applications, hiring, and reviews
- To process payments and payouts
- To keep the platform safe — investigating reports, enforcing our rules, and preventing fraud
- To send you service messages and, where you have opted in, updates about the platform
- To improve the product and diagnose problems
- To comply with our legal obligations
3. Artificial Intelligence Features
Some optional features use third-party artificial intelligence services to help you build a better profile — for example, improving the quality of a profile photo, or drafting and translating your bio.
When you use one of these features, the photo or text involved is sent to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to be processed. We ask for your explicit permission before this happens, and these features are entirely optional — you can build and use your profile without them. Your data is not used by us to train AI models.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these circumstances:
- With other users, as the service requires. Your public profile is visible to families searching for help. Your messages are visible to the person you are talking to. Reviews you write are visible on the profile you reviewed.
- With service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only for the purpose we give them: payment processing (Stripe), media hosting (Cloudflare), product analytics (PostHog), error monitoring (Sentry), email and messaging delivery, and the AI providers described in section 3.
- Where the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our users.
We also work with marketing measurement partners — the Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel described in our Cookie Policy — who receive limited data about your visits so we can measure our own ad campaigns.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, or by using our data deletion request page.
Deleting your account from Settings takes effect immediately; requests made through the data deletion page are processed within 30 days. When your account is deleted we:
- Remove your profile, photos, videos, work samples, saved items, verification documents, home address and contact details from active use
- Remove your sign-in credentials and revoke your connected sign-in providers
- Mask your payout account number to its last four digits and disable the payout destination
- Remove your profile from search, listings and public pages, and close any open job posts
Retention after deletion. We keep an offline copy of your removed data for 90 days in case of a dispute or a mistaken removal, then it is permanently deleted. It is not visible in the app during that time. You may ask us to erase the offline copy sooner through our data request form.
Some records are anonymised rather than removed, because they also belong to someone else. Messages you sent stay in the other person’s conversation, and reviews you wrote stay on the profile you reviewed — shown as “Deleted user” and no longer linked to your identity. Reports and safety records are kept in anonymised form so that deleting an account cannot erase a safety history.
Some records we are legally required to keep. Financial and tax records — payments, payouts, invoices, and, where your employer uses our household tools, payroll records and payslips — are retained for 10 years, as required by Philippine tax regulations (BIR Revenue Regulations No. 17-2013). Employment records are subject to a minimum retention period under Philippine labour rules. These are kept for compliance only and are not used to contact you.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how the product is used so we can improve it, and measure the performance of our ad campaigns. The last part runs through marketing pixels — including the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and TikTok Pixel, managed via Google Tag Manager — which may set their own cookies when you visit helpers.ph. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and our Cookie Policy has the full details.
7. Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no system is entirely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
8. Your Data Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: You can request copies of your personal data.
- Right to correction: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate information.
- Right to deletion: You can delete your account, as described in section 5.
- Right to withdraw consent: Where you have given consent — for example, to the AI features in section 3 — you can withdraw it at any time.
9. Age Requirement
Helpers is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that someone under 18 has created an account, we will remove it and delete their personal data.
10. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process your information outside the Philippines. Where that happens, we rely on those providers’ contractual data protection commitments.
11. Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on our website and app. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
